Take the dirty work out of increasing R-values
Kingspan’s latest product takes the sweat out of installing insulation. Previously, builders and homeowners had two options:
- Rip off the wall lining, install building paper and bulk insulation and then re-line.
- Drill unsightly holes in the outside cladding and inject foam insulation into the wall cavity.
Both methods require building consents that can cost upwards of $500, while filling a ventilated cavity can potentially lead to rot problems for homeowners later on in the home’s life.
Kingspan’s latest product – Kooltherm® Insulated Plasterboard – addresses all of these issues by combining insulation with plasterboard and simplifying the process of building or renovating homes to be more energy efficient.
The pre-insulated plasterboard panels are applied directly to the interior walls, so there’s no need to demolish existing plasterboard. They are also fibre and CFC-free, so they’re easy to handle and safer to work with.
The 50mm thick, pre-insulated plasterboard will increase the R-value to R2.0.
As the panels form a continuous barrier, they also do away with traditional insulation’s problem of heat loss through thermal bridging.
Because the wall cavity isn’t being filled, it is able to breathe and stay dry.
