Select PlaceMakers stores now offer a range of AC1355.2 seismic-rated Powers concrete fasteners and epoxy, including the Power Stud SD2 and Wedge Bolt
In 2003, the international building code (IBC) introduced state-of-the-art requirements for testing, evaluation and design of post-installed anchors in concrete. These standards have been adopted in New Zealand and Australia.
Powers can provide product that meets cracked concrete and seismic code requirements, as specified in NZS4219 (Seismic Performance of Engineering Systems in buildings) and NZS3101 (Concrete Structures Standard). Anchors are suitable for medium- to heavy-duty applications.
Power Stud
The Power Stud SD2 is a fully threaded, torque-controlled wedge expansion anchor. It can be used for beam and column anchorages and for tension zone applications. They are easily installed through standard fixture holes and the anchor diameter is the same size as a normal drill bit.
Wedge Bolt
The Wedge Bolt is a one-piece, heavy-duty screw anchor with finished hex head. Suitable applications include, but aren’t limited to, support ledges and temporary attachments, fencing and railing, interior applications and low-corrosion environments. It can be installed through standard fixture holes to provide consistent performance in high- and low-strength concrete.
Seismic Epoxy
Powers Fasteners Pure150-Pro is designed and approved for use with a threaded rod and reinforcing bar under seismic-loading anchor performance category C1, in accordance with EOTA TR45 recommendations.
Pure150 epoxy can be used in diamond-drilled holes, water-filled holes, overhead applications, cracked concrete and compression zones. Pure150 also has a F120 Fire resistance classification.
Go online and check out the Powers Design Assist (PDA) software program, which provides anchoring solutions in a dynamic environment with real-time results. It is based on ETAG (European) and AC318 (USA) design methods.
Look for the RED label bins; only these products are seismic-approved.
Powers Fasteners is a member of the AEFAC Australasian Engineered Fasteners and Anchor Council, setting standards for the specification selection and application of construction fasteners in Australasia. For more information go to www.powers.com or phone 09 415 2425.
