It’s black and white

09 Sep 2014, Industry Updates, Product Focus

Powers Fasteners has made innovative new additions to its Blue-tip Screwbolt range, with new colour-coded anchor points sure to cure a few onsite headaches and ensure consistency and safety

Following on the success of the blue-head 15kN bottom plate screwbolt for bracing, Powers has simplified standard perimeter-bottom plate fixing and internal-bottom plate fixing points with the introduction of two new colour-coded products.

“The new black- and white-coloured anchors are smaller in diameter than traditional fixing points, which reduces installation time and makes it less likely you will hit steel. Both meet NZS3604: 2011 7.5.12.3/4,” says Powers Fasteners NZ manager Claye Sesto.

“The white head anchor BTG08140 (8mm x 140mm) is designed for perimeter bottom plate fixings and provides more than the requisite 7kN load requirement. The black head anchor BTG08100 (8mm x 100mm) is specifically designed for internal bottom plates.”

Both anchors can be removed, have full head markings and are mechanically galvanised as standard.

The anchors need to be used with a 50mm square washer.

“Unlike traditional  sleeve anchors, Bluetip Screwbolts apply no expansion forces through the concrete, making them ideal for bottom-plate and close to edge applications

Full traceability

Another important feature is their full traceability (including diameter and length), because it gives territorial authorities the ability to confirm the correct anchor has been used for the right application.

A separate range of SEISMIC AC1355.2 approved screwbolt / wedgebolts are also available.

“The anchors are one-piece units with hex heads formed with an integral washer, patented dual head thread
and a chamfered tip. The one-piece design eliminates the possibility of lost anchor parts or improper assembly. Because there is no curing time, unlike adhesive fixings, they provide instant high-strength loading,” says Sesto.

Bluetip Screwbolts cut their own thread into concrete. Unlike traditional  sleeve anchors, Bluetip Screwbolts apply no expansion forces through the concrete, making them ideal for bottom-plate and close to edge applications.
