The future of weathertightness – Kingspan Thermakraft’s Onewrap System

20 Oct 2025, PlaceMakers News, Product Focus, Product news

In New Zealand, builders deal with some of the harshest weather conditions in the world. From heavy rain to strong winds, ensuring that a building stays dry and performs for decades is critical – which is where OneWrap comes into play

The products you choose to wrap and protect a structure matter. For over 40 years, Kingspan Thermakraft has been developing underlay solutions built specifically for New Zealand’s environment. The OneWrap System is the result of that experience — a BRANZ-Appraised system designed to make compliance easier, installation faster, and result in more reliable performance.

A complete system for modern construction

The OneWrap System brings together Kingspan Thermakraft’s wall and roof underlay technologies into one integrated package. Instead of sourcing wraps, tapes, and seals from different suppliers, builders can use a complete solution from a single trusted brand.

Every layer in the system has been tested to work together under the New Zealand Building Code. This means fewer risks on site, and less chance of unexpected failures later. Wall underlay, flashing tapes, and seals are all part of the system – backed by local support and technical expertise.

For builders, this approach saves time and avoids the hassle of piecing together different products. For architects and homeowners, it ensures their design and investment is protected by a compatible system proven to perform long term.

Built on trust, backed by BRANZ

Builders know how important certification is when it comes to passing inspections. The OneWrap System isn’t just a collection of parts; it is BRANZ Appraised as a secondary weather resistant barrier for walls. This independent verification confirms that the products work together to meet the Building Code.

That means less time dealing with inspection challenges and more time building. It also reassures homeowners that their home is wrapped in a system that’s been tested and trusted for New Zealand conditions.

Focused on the future

With more pressure on code compliance, moisture management, and energy efficiency, builders need solutions that can keep pace with changing standards. The OneWrap System was designed to make this easier – offering an envelope that performs, simplifies compliance, and is supported by a company with decades of local experience.

A new way to underlay with RainArmor® SA

In addition to the OneWrap System, Kingspan Thermakraft has introduced RainArmor® SA – a self-adhesive wall underlay with its own BRANZ Appraisal. While it sits outside the OneWrap System, RainArmor® SA is another high-performance option designed for speed and security on site.

RainArmor® SA’s peel-and-stick application makes it quick to install, even in challenging conditions. By bonding directly to the substrate, it eliminates the gaps and penetrations common with mechanically-fixed wraps, reducing the risk of wind uplift and water ingress.

Builders will also appreciate the sustainability story: once removed at end of life or if there is left-over underlay during construction, RainArmor® can be recycled through saveBOARD into new construction boards.

Built to last

Whether it’s the complete OneWrap System or the stand-alone RainArmor® SA, Kingspan Thermakraft continues to deliver solutions that make life easier for builders while ensuring buildings are protected for decades. With proven products, trusted certification, and local support, Kingspan Thermakraft is helping New Zealand’s construction industry face the future of weathertightness with confidence.
