A new national hunting show aimed at those who enjoy the outdoors is about to hit the airwaves, with producers planning on highlighting the adventure, camaraderie and scenery experienced while out on the trail
The country’s largest sawmill, Rotorua’s Red Stag Timber, has announced its sponsorship of a new television programme, The Red Stag Timber Hunters Club.
The ten-part series travels the length and breadth of New Zealand’s remote wilderness, in search of a quarry previously deemed too hard to film and, according to producers, crew will risk life and limb to get the perfect shot.
The Red Stag Timber Hunters Club sets itself apart from other hunting shows because of its cinematic production approach.
“Red Stag Timber is the country’s most high tech sawmill and, as such, there is a natural fit with the production quality of The Hunters Club,” said Red Stag Timber CEO, Marty Verry.
“With many hunters on the Red Stag staff, we were really keen to lift the lid on this healthy Kiwi lifestyle/outdoor sport,” said Marty. “We’ll use the Red Stag Timber Hunters Club to promote our quality message to viewers, a large proportion of whom are expected to be builders and the trade merchants.”
Aerial quad-copters, super slow motion cameras and time lapse photography will be used to capture the natural beauty of New Zealand’s backcountry. Producer Dave Shaw said the Red Stag Timber Hunters Club captures the true essence of hunting.
“Our show is not about the kill, it’s more about the adventure, camaraderie, dedication and passion that drive a true hunter,” says Dave, who was previously head of post-production on The ITM Fishing Show. “Our series is about fit, intelligent blokes challenging themselves in extreme environments, executing the hunt as best they can while enjoying each other’s company in the great outdoors.
“Red Stag Timber is obviously the perfect naming rights partner for us. Marty, and many of his team, are hunters in the first place – they get what we are about and we’re bloody rapt to have them supporting us”.
Red Stag Timber have signed a multi-year deal to be the naming rights sponsor – describing the initiative as a perfect fit for their brand and the centre-piece of a major marketing push for the company.
Currently the largest sawmill in the Southern Hemisphere, the company’s expansion strategy will elevate it to a world class “Super Mill”, with scale and precision technology taking timber production in New Zealand to a new level.
The Red Stag Timber Hunters Club goes to air on SKY Sport 1 in the second week of April. It will repeat on other Sky Sport channels across the 10 weeks and be followed by an entire repeat of the series later in the year.
Filming for season two is already underway.
