MBIE’s Building Performance website has been updated with improved content
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment hopes improvements to its Building Performance website, will make it quicker and easier for builders to access relevant information and understand their rights and obligations.
The website (www.building.govt.nz) is the authoritative source of MBIE guidelines and operational information on building regulation. It’s used by people throughout the building sector, as well as homeowners carrying out building work. Its content is also often featured in industry publications such as Under Construction, and will continue to be.
“As part of the redevelopment, we have updated content, improved navigation, enhanced the search capability across the site and regrouped guidance resources by Building Code clause or topic,” says Kirsty Wallace, MBIE’s team leader for advice, information and education.
“We have reorganised and revised information to help everyone, including building practitioners, understand their rights and obligations within the building system. This will help people be better informed before they enter into contracts for building work or apply for a building consent.
“The enhancements also work more effectively on mobiles and tablets, and provide us with a better digital platform to keep up with changing technology.”
Information includes:
- Builder and designer rights and obligations.
- Choosing the right people for your type of work.
- Building consent exemptions for low-risk work.
- How to support your building consent application.
- Resolving building problems.
The website redevelopment is part of MBIES’s wider programme of to help building controls be applied more accurately and with greater confidence.
