A loyal and happy customer for 50 years

In the five decades since Dennis Wood started building in West Auckland, man has landed on the moon, the Berlin wall has fallen, Internet was developed and the All Blacks were crowned Rugby World Cup champions… twice. While he’s dealt with his share of change in the industry, one thing that hasn’t changed is his supplier.
“I remember going to PlaceMakers with my dad when I was 16 years old and loving the atmosphere and the people,” says Dennis. “Fifty years later I still feel the same way.”
To celebrate its longest-standing customer’s 50-year milestone, PlaceMakers Westgate held a morning tea full of food and laughter.
“We frequently go the extra mile for our customers,” says branch operator Neil Killgour. “But with Dennis, we made sure to go just a bit further to thank him for his loyalty.
“It was a fun morning and Dennis endured us telling a number of stories about him that made for some good laughs,” says Neil. “He’s come in here almost every day since we opened 16 years ago, and visited the old Fletcher store before that, so there are plenty of tales to tell.”
Dennis admits that he is frequently asked to try other stores, but that Westgate’s outstanding service keeps him loyal.
“I’ve been going to PlaceMakers since I was 16 years old,” he says. “They treat me well and offer great customer service, the right products and extensive knowledge – why would I go elsewhere?”
