Industry changes in a nutshell (or a seminar)
22 Mar 2014, LBP & Regulation
When you’re busy at work and home, it can be hard to stay on top of industry changes, reviews, consultations and more. PlaceMakers’ sixth round of skills maintenance seminars promises to deliver as much info as possible in a clear and easy way.
John Tait, who led the last series of seminars, says that being up to speed with the flow of new information and regulations is essential to running your business successfully, but acknowledges it takes significant commitment.
“Skills maintenance is about ensuring you’re aware of the industry changes that affect your work on a day-to-day basis,” says John. “It’s not always easy
to stay on top of everything, which is why we’ll do our best to ensure these seminars explain those changes in an easily digestible format.”
He’ll be going more in-depth about the recently announced changes to the Building Act – Building Act Amendment 2013 – and other regulations due to come into effect later this year. This will include examples of what work is now exempt and can be completed without a building consent.

He’ll also discuss what important elements every contract should have, what LBPs can learn from complaints against them and other relevant issues.
So, attend a seminar near you and build on the skills maintenance points you’ve been collecting by reading Under Construction!
