Industry changes in a nutshell (or a seminar)
24 Apr 2014, LBP & Regulation
Two years after Restricted Building Work came into effect, commitment to skills maintenance appears to be growing stronger.
With more builders signing up to receive Under Construction, and continued enquiries about further skills maintenance seminars, presenter John Tait has embarked on his cross-country tour to deliver PlaceMakers’ sixth round of sessions.
“There’s no shortage of material to cover, given the continuous changes taking place across the industry,” says John. “We’ll do our best to present it in an easily digestible way and allow plenty of time for questions.”
The seminars will include:
- Skills maintenance update – news on the skills maintenance review, how to keep good records of your learning, the increasing number of licence complaints and what we can learn from the published complaints
- Worksafe – details about the new health and safety-focused agency and what you need to do to ensure you’re compliant
- Building Act changes – the importance of construction contracts, disclosure of information, implied warranties, defects, the yet-to-be implemented risk-based consenting and much more
- Common problems – find out what issues building contractors are encountering around the country and avoid making them yourself
John will also discuss the importance of paying close attention to the building design and the products being used, as they are both integral components
of the end result; if a problem is found with either, it could affect you and your licence status.
Don’t miss out on the well-researched information presented in those seminars!
