MiTek will fix it

MiTek’s new Bottom Plate Screw Bolt (BPS) is the perfect solution for fixing external or internal timber wall frames onto concrete floor slabs or masonry header block bases. As a ‘Proprietary Post Fixed Anchor’, it’s right in line with NZS 3604:2011 Clause 7.5.12.2.

The solution features the unique BOWMAC ‘Blue Head’ screw bolt – the bolt head is blue, for easy onsite identification. This aims to help cut through any confusion surrounding fixing selection and ensure that the integrity of the bracing element hold-down is maintained.

MiTek says LBPs should find this helpful, as it reassures building officials that the correct fixing has been installed to achieve the three directional loads required – 2kN (in plane of wall), 3kN (out of plane of wall) and 7kN (axial tension vertical).

Each BPS must be installed in line with the instructions in each pack and located at maximum 900 mm centres for concrete slab floors – or 600 mm for masonry header block bases – and within 150 mm from the end of a wall panel.
