From an unforgettable weekend at the NRL’s Magic Round in Brisbane to an immersive journey through Japan, PlaceMakers Plus continues to reward loyal customers with exclusive travel experiences alongside everyday savings and rewards.
Magic weekend
This May, 27 PlaceMakers Plus customers travelled to Brisbane for a four-day getaway centred around the NRL’s Magic Round.
Held from 15-18 May, the trip combined eight games of rugby league with plenty of opportunities to relax and explore the Queensland capital at their own pace.
Guests stayed at the W Hotel Brisbane in the heart of the CBD, enjoying daily breakfast, a heated indoor pool, spa treatments, a gym and a poolside bar overlooking the Brisbane River. The hotel’s central location also meant Suncorp Stadium was just a 20-minute walk away.
PlaceMakers organised a welcome lunch and drinks to kick off the trip, along with recommendations for some of Brisbane’s best pre-game venues to help customers make the most of the Magic Round atmosphere.
PlaceMakers supplier Graeme Ashby summed up the experience, saying: “Everything was amazing. Great crew, amazing hotel, well organised and so much fun. Another great trip by PlaceMakers.”
Cultural delights
For another group of PlaceMakers Plus customers, the next unforgettable destination was Japan.
The itinerary combined the electric energy of Tokyo with the timeless charm of Kanazawa, giving travellers the opportunity to experience two very different sides of the country.
In Tokyo, guests experienced the city’s blend of cutting-edge modern life and centuries-old traditions. Highlights included a welcome event overlooking the illuminated Tokyo Tower, attending a sumo wrestling tournament and exploring the vibrant nightlife of Shinjuku.
The journey then continued aboard the famous Shinkansen bullet train to Kanazawa, where the pace slowed and customers experienced a different side of Japan’s rich cultural heritage.
Known for its samurai history, elegant geisha districts, traditional streets and fresh seafood markets, Kanazawa offered an authentic glimpse into historic Japan. Trip goers also visited the renowned Kenroku-en Gardens, explored Takayama Old Town and experienced a UNESCO World Heritage Site before the trip concluded with a traditional farewell gala dinner.
Together, the two destinations delivered a balance of bright city lights, rich cultural experiences and unforgettable memories, showcasing the unique opportunities available through the PlaceMakers Plus loyalty programme.
