The international hit renovation reality show Love It or List It landed on New Zealand screens for the first time in August – and PlaceMakers is proud to have played a key role as a partner product supplier. 

For those unfamiliar, the show sees two well-known personalities – in the New Zealand version, real estate agent Paul Glover and interior designer Alex Walls – go head-to-head in a friendly competition to win over homeowners. One is tasked with transforming the existing home, while the other hunts for a better option – both within fixed budgets. The house is renovated either way – but, in the end, the big question is: will the owners love it enough to stay, or list it for something new? 

From bathroom refurbs to full-home transformations, the Kiwi version has quickly won fans for its down-to-earth approach, relatable homeowners and impressive renovations achieved on often modest budgets. 

For PlaceMakers, it has been a powerful way to see our product ranges in action – not just in showrooms or flat-lay images, but right there in beautifully designed, lived-in homes. 

“PlaceMakers was thrilled to be part of the show and to see that our products were used in such a way that they inspired consumers,” says Brand and Loyalty Manager Claire Warin. “We’ve already had lots of enquiries from people wanting to achieve the same look.” 

The show doesn’t just gloss over the details – products are named and suppliers credited, giving homeowners and builders a clear path to replicate the looks they love. Among the highlights were several PlaceMakers ranges, including the Adesso line in bathrooms, helping deliver stylish, functional spaces that don’t blow the budget. 

Importantly, Love It or List It NZ taps into a recent trend among Kiwi homeowners to make better use of what they’ve got through renovations. And for builders, it offers a fantastic tool for showing clients what’s possible with smart product choices and clever design. 

Whether homeowners chose to stay post renovation, or sell and move on, the PlaceMakers presence was part of the process – helping create well-finished, high-impact spaces that lift property value and add enjoyment every day. 

“We saw our products used in ways that really brought out their best,” Claire adds. “It’s great to see that spark – where someone sees a bathroom or kitchen on the show and goes, ‘I want that’. And even better when they bring that idea to their builder.” 

As the season wraps, it’s clear this isn’t just feel-good TV – it’s a new way to  inspire confident decision-making and showcase just how accessible great design can be when you’ve got the right products and partners behind you.
