PlaceMakers Takanini is open for business!

28 Jul 2016, Community & Sponsorship, Featured

PlaceMakers newest store has been purpose-built to meet the demands of South Auckland’s burgeoning construction industry

The trade-friendly store has been designed with customer convenience as a top priority and its door officially opened on 4 July.

Store operator Tony McDrury says his goal is to make life as easy as possible for tradespeople working in the busy South Auckland area.

“The surrounding suburbs have been earmarked for a lot of residential growth, so we’re going to focus on helping our customers as much as we can while they work to meet that demand,” says Tony. “Our doors are open seven days a week and I’m looking forward to saying hello when they come for a visit.”

A comprehensive range of more than 4,500 products is available, while the in-store Mico Bathrooms showroom means customers won’t have to waste time moving between locations to get what they need.

Bigger is better

The trade hall covers a 1,200m2 area, including an expansive showroom that displays PlaceMakers paint and decor solutions with a dedicated kitchen area.

Even the racking has been specially designed to improve visibility, so locating specific products is a breeze. Adding to the trade-friendly set-up in a carpark with 82 spaces and a 1,700m2 undercover drive-through that will be manned by experienced staff.

Tony says that the large spaces mean the store is well positioned to grow alongside its trade base as construction in the South Auckland area heats up.

Sustainable focus

PlaceMakers general manager of operations and marketing Gary Woodhouse says the Takanini store was specially designed to reduce its environmental footprint.

“Every new store will be built to an energy-efficient standard in line with sustainable building practices,” he says.

He adds that making sure core trade lines are always in stock will be a priority for the Takanini team.

Wake up and smell the coffee!

The store will host a trade breakfast and ribbon-cutting ceremony on 10 August.

“All of our suppliers will be there and we’re inviting anyone to come along and see what we’re about,” says Tony. “Our general manager Bruce McEwen will be there to cut the ribbon, and we’ll be handing out free coffee to help everyone kick start their day!”
