LBP Skills Maintenance – Wellington
PlaceMakers is pleased to announce its upcoming skills maintenance session in Wellington for Licensed Building Practitioners! This two-hour session – which includes two speakers and two short quizzes – is designed to help you stay up to speed with updates to Clause H1 of the Building Code, the proposed move to proportional liability in construction, mandatory contract implications and earn skills maintenance points.
It’s also a chance to catch up and enjoy some food and drinks with other LBPs from around the region! Food and drinks will be provided.
Building Code updates
Mid last year, Building and Construction Minister Chris Penk signalled that further changes to Clause H1 of the Building Code were needed and, in December 2024, MBIE opened consultation on potential refinements. These included removing the Schedule Method, adjusting minimum R-values in the Calculation Method, increasing compliance flexibility, and reviewing framing ratio assumptions that affect insulation performance.
Following this, the Government announced that the Schedule Method will be removed as a compliance pathway by the end of 2025, leaving only the Calculation and Modelling methods to demonstrate insulation performance. However, no further changes were announced at the time. MBIE has confirmed that any further adjustments to H1 are expected to be confirmed in November.
At this seminar, any confirmed changes will be discussed, and product suppliers will demonstrate how their products can help achieve energy efficiency compliance – or better – through their product solutions.
Comfortech®
Steve Turnball, Insulation Product Specialist for Comfortech® will be presenting a breakdown of the recent H1 announcement, as well as the upcoming pending changes and the impact of these changes.
Join Steve to understand the opportunities and challenges ahead and how to stay ahead of compliance, while delivering warmer, healthier, more efficient homes.
Legal guidance from Duncan Cotterill
A presenter from nationwide law firm Duncan Cotterill – Partner Alysha Hinton and Partner Jonathan Scragg – will provide legal guidance related to:
- The proposed change to liability settings in the construction industry from ‘joint and several’ to ‘proportional’.
- The importance of having robust contracts with your clients and what’s essential to include.
